EventBoard for Jira (Project Due-Date Events)

Open Events in a project's left navigation and see that project's due-dated issues in one list. Up to 100 events load in under a second, with no 500 errors, no blank pages, and strict tenant isolation.

What Events does

Events shows a project's upcoming due-date work in a single, always-available list in the project's left-hand navigation, so you can see what is scheduled without searching or opening every issue.

Who it is for

Jira administrators and team leads who want a reliable, glanceable view of a project's scheduled work to plan the team's time. If you pay for a project in Jira and live in its issue list, this is for you.

Getting started

Install

  1. In Jira, go to Apps → Marketplace (or Settings → Apps).
  2. Search for Events and choose Install.
  3. Approve the access prompt when Jira asks you to.

That's it — no configuration is required to see your events.

The permissions Events asks for, and why

Events is a 3LO (on-behalf-of-you) app. It asks for exactly two read permissions and nothing else:

  • Read issues — so it can find issues in your project that have a due date (those are the events). It never writes or changes anything.
  • Read your project access — so it only shows you events for projects you are actually allowed to see, and never shows you another team's or another site's work.

It does not ask to modify issues, read worklogs, or read anything outside your Jira site. If a permission prompt ever shows something beyond those two reads, do not approve it and contact support.

Your first successful action

  1. Open any project.
  2. In the left-hand navigation, click Events.
  3. The list appears with your project's due-date work, ordered by date.

That is the product working. If you see the list, you're done.

What each screen does

The Events list

  • Shows each issue that has a due date, as one row with its title and due date.
  • Rows are ordered by due date (soonest first).
  • The whole list is labelled "Events" for screen readers, and the view is fully keyboard-operable: Tab to the list, Arrow Up/Down to move between events (you'll see a blue focus ring on the current one), Enter to open an event, Home/End to jump to the first/last.

The event detail

  • Pressing Enter (or clicking) a row opens a dialog that reads the event's title, due date and project aloud for screen readers.
  • Escape (or the Close control) dismisses it and returns focus to the row you came from.

Export your data

From the Events view, choose Export. You get a copy of the small preferences Events has stored for you (things like which projects you pinned). Events can also give you a single-use access code that is valid for 15 minutes, in case you need to fetch the copy somewhere else. The code stops working after it is used once, after 15 minutes, or as soon as you revoke it.

Erase your data

From the Events view, choose Erase. After you confirm, Events permanently deletes the preferences it holds for you. This only touches your own data.

Removing the app

A site administrator removes Events with the usual Uninstall action. When that happens, everything Events stored for the site is deleted with it.

When something looks wrong

  • The list is empty but you expected events. Make sure you're in a project where you have access, and that the issues actually have due dates set. Events only lists issues that have a due date.
  • "You do not have permission…" You're not a member of the project being shown, or your account's access was changed. Ask your project admin to add you, then retry.
  • "We could not reach Jira…" / "…took too long." Jira was slow or briefly unavailable. Your data is untouched — just retry. This is a temporary, safe error, not a failure of your data.
  • "Jira is rate-limiting." You hit Jira's request limit (for example after a very large project). Wait a short while and retry; the list will load as soon as the limit clears.
  • The Events entry isn't in the navigation. You may lack permission to the project's pages, or the app isn't installed for your site. Check Apps to confirm it's installed, and ask your admin if the navigation item is missing.
  • Where errors show up. Every error appears inside the Events view as a short, plain-language message. Nothing is logged or surfaced that contains anyone's personal or compensation details.

Your data and privacy

The short version: Events stores only your lightweight display preferences, never your issues, for up to 30 days, and you can export or erase it any time. Full details are in the privacy notice and SECURITY.md.
